Exposing the OZ100SG junctions to light will create reverse leakage current, Ir. This assumes the diode is reverse biased, i.e. blocking. Ir can be controlled by varying the amount of light. The more light, the more leakage current. Monitoring Ir provides a way for indirect measurement , hence feedback.
